Health insurance
Is acupuncture covered by health insurance?
Most major Irish health insurers cover acupuncture, depending on your policy. Every policy is different and refunds vary, so please check your own policy or ask your insurer before your treatment.
How do I claim my refund?
After your treatment, or course of treatments, we give you a receipt showing the dates you attended, the treatment you received and the cost. Send this receipt to your insurer and they will refund you according to your policy.
My treatment combines acupuncture with other therapies. Is that covered?
Many of our treatments combine acupuncture with massage, cupping, reflexology or moxibustion. Acupuncture is listed as the main treatment on your receipt for health insurance purposes, and this covers the combined session.
Is anything not covered?
Ear candling and herbal medicine are not covered by health insurance.
Booking and your visit
Do I need to book, or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome at both of our clinics, subject to availability. To guarantee a time, book online or give us a call.
Is there a free consultation?
Yes. We offer a free consultation in either of our clinics, or online by video call.
What should I wear?
Come as you are. Any clothing is fine.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are very fine, much thinner than an injection needle. Most people feel a slight tingle or a sense of heaviness rather than pain, and many find the treatment relaxing.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on you and what you would like help with. Your practitioner will talk this through with you at your consultation and suggest a treatment plan.
Are your practitioners qualified?
Yes. Care Cure are registered members of the Acupuncture Council of Ireland (ACI), and all our practitioners are fully insured.
